2009 Sprint Race Series!

These races are open to the beginner, intermediate, and advanced racers who want to practice their Adventure Racing skills and have some fun.  This year we have three,  2-4 hour Sprint Races and one 6-hour finale 6-hour Sprint Race.  Each race stands on its’ own, but we encourage you to try more than one as they are all different. 

Two person teams are encouraged, however, solo’s can race too. The two person teams can be coed, all female, and all male.  Most races use the same basic gear like a Mountain Bike, hydration pack, running shoes, and a basic compass.  Some races may require additional gear.  In every case we will list the extra gear needed for a specific race.

Sprint Race #1 - May 2, Elena Gallegos Open Space, Albuquerque Foothills, NM

Sprint Race #2 - June 14, Fenton Lake, NM
Start time-TBA. This race is between 4-6 hours. Register online.

Sprint Race #3 - July 11, Cochiti Lake, NM
Start time-TBA. This race is 7 hours. Register online.

Can you believe it - we got a permit from the Cochiti Pueblo and the Corps of Engineers ? This race will have Trekking, Mountain Biking, a water element, and Navigation. For the water element you will need a PFD and an inflatable tube, surf board, or water mat. Get ready to have some fun and you will get wet for the water element. I figure Cochiti Lake in the hot summer in July and you might like to get cool during the race. The Navigation will be tough, but fair, and you will probably have to make decisions to on what CP's to get - all good AR stuff. Again, sign up on www.meetup.com type in Adventure Racing, then put in 87110 as a zip and you will find the NMARC site. If you're not a member it's real easy to set up a profile with blank stuff. Once you've signed up on Meetup then go to www.active.com in the search field type in: NMARC Sprint Race Then click on the July 11 race and go from there. Steve is the Race Director.
