Keith and Steve competed in their first NM Orienteers event on November 14 in Los Alamos. They chose the intermediate Orange route to test their skills. After a slow start finding the first three checkpoints, they begin to get the hang of it and proceeded to find the remaining 8 checkpoints in good time.

They took second place with a time of 1:48:46. Not bad considering their first race. They both enjoyed the race and plan to enter more in the Spring 2005 when the NM Orienteers start up more races. Steve and Keith met Jan & Kim Bear, and Hugh Driscoll from Team Santa Fe. They won the Red course. It was nice to aquaint them with the progress of NMARC.
